Eco-design & wood art artist
The Riviera Fine art team welcomes an artist to open a dialogue on the theme of eco-design and wood-art. Around a coffee#4 took place on September 8, 2021 at The Office Center Monaco.
Brett Gradel grew up in Menton surrounded by a family of artists. Brett chose marquetry work to express himself. He fell in love with the different types of wood with soft colors.
He presented us his latest creations. They are mainly inspired by his travels and his passion for surfing.
Brett Gradel is committed to the environmental cause. His creations are obviously eco-responsible or totally recycled. In addition, he launched a petition to create an artificial reef in Menton and Roquebrune-Cap-Martin.
Unique eco-design stools
The artist carefully studies the pure forms. His small wooden furniture harmonizes with a contemporary interior design style. An online Brettg-design gallery presents his creations.
This series of wooden stools is available in recycled or noble materials.
Each piece is unique, designed with an economy of means. The shapes of the solid wood legs or the marquetry work above the seat make it a work of art and use. A double functionality to which is added the durability of the materials used.
Wood-art or contemporary marquetry
When we talk about marquetry, we think of the famous cabinetmaker BOULLE. Leader of the great tradition of French furniture under Louis XIV. His sideboards and other creations are worth millions of euros and are exhibited in the greatest museums.
- Art marquetry consists of inserting precious materials into wood. For example, mother of pearl, precious woods are cut with precision and then glued to form paintings. Some craftsmen have elevated this technique to the rank of masterpiece thanks to their technical mastery in carpentry and their imagination.
- Brett's art is based on the revival of this ancient craft technique. But he adds a touch of novelty. Without complex, he imagines his characters at the beach with a surfboard or on a tennis court.
- His creations evoke a wave of happiness and carefree spirit. The smile at the corner of the lips appears to the visitors.
Our expert advice for a new acquisition on the primary market
The art market is divided into two parts.
- The first market corresponds to the setting in sale of a work by its creator near a purchaser directly or via a gallery owner. It corresponds to the first putting in circulation of the work on the market.
- At the time of the resale, one will speak about secondary market.
Unfortunately, young artists are not well enough informed about their rights.
- ADAGP is the French society of authors of visual arts. It represents artists-authors of more than 40 disciplines: sculpture, design ...
- Articles L111-1 and L111-3 of the Intellectual Property Code are very clear: the ownership of the material support of the work and the immaterial ownership of the work, i.e. the copyright (right of reproduction and representation), are perfectly distinct and independent of each other.
