With the beautiful days coming, I wanted to make you visit or revisit the works of art and foundations not to be missed in Monaco.
Explore art and culture
As I said before, I founded the company Riviera Fine Art in 2021 to assist and accompany collectors and enthusiasts to the art market of the French Riviera. Thus, to better understand the history of artistic trends, we begin by educating our eyes to the works of art around us. We can perfect our knowledge of styles and artists at every opportunity. That is why I think that there is no better school than the one of life.
Even if I visit the Principality very often, which is only 2 km2, I must admit that I never tire of visiting the different places in Monaco to rediscover the local art and culture.
Review your classics
Here is a selection of 3 iconic works of art that you should not miss:
- The mirror of Anish Kapoor (India, 1954) on the Casino square
- The Great Carp (1996) by François-Xavier LALANNE (French sculptor, 1927-2008) in the port of Fontvieille
- Woman smoking a cigarette (1987) by Fernando BOTERO (Colombian, 1932) on the path of the sculptures.
The art foundations have been working for the transmission and influence of art for many years:
- Prince Pierre of Monaco Foundation for the promotion of arts and culture. The contemporary art prize in 2022 was awarded to Christine Sun Kim for her work The Star-Spangled Banner (2020).
- Francis Bacon Foundation (England 1909 1992) testifies to the passage of the painter who lived on site.
My favorite museums
- New National Museum of Monaco for contemporary art exhibitions
- Oceanographic museum for art and natural history collections. In particular, the cabinet of curiosity which abounds in traditional objects in mother-of-pearl and shells.
