"Nahmad Collection: Ten Masterpieces" is the summer exhibition of the Picasso Museum in Antibes presented until October 31, 2021.
According to published reports, the Nahmad family has one of the largest collections of 20th century art in the world. David Nahmad declared in the Express "I have always bought because I like it, because it tells something of the time, because it makes me smarter. I'm not interested in the price".
Only one Picasso work per room allows to appreciate the details of each piece. In the whirlwind of images produced by the Internet and social networks, taking the time to look becomes a luxury. Time is suspended when we are taken by the emotional dimensions of the characters in their context. Picasso is all about human theater expressed through deformed faces and bodies: funny and pathetic at the same time.
Pablo PICASSO was born in Malaga in 1881 and took part in the 1900 Universal Exhibition in Paris. In 1946, while visiting Vallauris Golfe Juan, he left 23 paintings and several drawings. The Château Grimaldi becomes the Musée Picasso
It is a real pleasure to know that renowned art collectors participate in the cultural awakening of our region. We were at "Monaco fête Picasso" at the Grimaldi Forum in 2013 to discover an impressive collection of works. On the other hand, the particularity of the exhibition in Antibes is that it presents fewer works but highlights each of them.
This vision completes the welcome that Dor de la Souchère gave to Picasso after the Second World War: intimate and powerful.
