Sapphires and garnets of multiple colors from Sri Lanka

Every first Wednesday of the month, come and discover with us all the facets of contemporary creation around a guest of honor.

We accompany you in the choice of stones as well as the creation of unique jewelry with contemporary jewelers.

The colored stones of Authentic Gems

  • Stones Sylvain is a trader in colored stones cut into ideal shapes for jewelry creation. He fell in love with the exciting world of gemology thanks to his little sister. Coming back from Australia with 40 kg of smoky quartz of a rare quality, the search for gemstones became a complementary family story and that's how Gemmes Authentiques started.
  • He selects his stones with passion mainly in Sri Lanka (Ceylon) where one finds the most beautiful markets of colored sapphires. Our trader looks for the rarity of inclusions or original pieces.

Sapphires from Sri Lanka or Ceylon

Amazed by the trays of precious gems, blue sapphires remain the most requested stones.

  • The colored sapphires offer a wide range of colors from yellow to green.
  • Regarding prices, it should be noted that the criteria are weight, color and purity above all. The question of the quality of the size concerns rather the collectors who are used to using the magnifying glass. Indeed, the general public first admires the depth and saturation of color, and the tone or tones of colors on the whole stone. We sometimes distinguish a main hue with an under-tone of purple or green for example.
  • Prices vary according to the origin of the sapphires in the following descending order:
    • first, unheated blue sapphires from Burma (Myanmar)
    • then, unheated blue sapphires from Ceylon (Sri Lanka)
    • finally, the heated blue sapphires of undetermined origin.
